Sun-dara. Sun. I think it makes sense.
But in all seriousness, I just love the sun & how it changes when i take a photo, so it worked out well that my last name has something to do with it.
Hey everyone, I’m Anny! ENJF, closet-metal-head, rampant Chipotle consumer–and I want to take your photo.
The pastels may read differently, but I was a total MySpace girlie (weren’t we all?). But this meant that I was BASICALLY a professional photographer with my tiny digital camera and Picnik editing software. I’m kidding, of course, but somewhere in those early pre-teen days, a love of photography took root. I took that camera with me everywhere, seeking light-inspired moments between friends, concerts, and sunsets.
Enter adulthood. When I started college, I felt like I had to do the grown-up thing and follow a stable career path. Years later, your girl has a masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
But–shocker–the medical field isn’t everything that everyone thinks it is. In November of 2022, I had a serious conversation with a close friend about my passions and dreams of giving photography a full go. I never wanted to wonder “what if.” Somehow, the universe heard me, and I was given the opportunity to tour with my husband’s metal band all over the UK, US, and Canada…so I quit my full-time job as a mental health therapist. When I tell you that I LOVED every moment of this–it was like something had just clicked into place and I never looked back. Welcome to the stage, Sundara Photo.
I think Photography has the same effect as a beloved song that takes you back to a specific moment in time. There’s a lingering nostalgia and gentleness in photography that I hope comes across to my clients, and I find that there is a major overlap between the skills I used as a therapist and the way I take your photo. I want you all to feel seen and taken care of, which is why I’ve ultimately chosen to specialize in couples, boudoir, and families. Life is just a funny little adventure and we’re all in it together, and I want you to remember to LAUGH at yourself. And maybe say sh*t sometimes. It’s not all so serious.
Someone who actively calls themselves a ‘girl’s girl’ is not a girl’s girl…but I do love to empower my fellow ladies. I first started my photo business with an emphasis on families, and eventually a love of boudoir emerged as something of a surprise. There’s just something SO COOL about making you feel GOOD about yourself in your rawest form. It’s unlike any other facet of photography.
